[November 10, 2014] This week the CCMA hosted three visitors from Sandia National Laboratories: Dr. John Shadid, Dr. Eric Cyr, and Dr. Edward Phillips. The visitors are researchers specializing in developing and implementing efficient and scalable solvers for nonlinear multi-physics problems including fluid dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, and geothermal flows. Drs. Shadid and Cyr presented some recent work on their numerical techniques for solving these difficult problems using matrix preconditioners, Newton-Krylov techniques, and variational multi-scale methods.
