The theory and algorithms of big data are hotspots in the recent study. The following short courses on this topic were offered by the PSU-PKU joint Center for Computational Mathematics and Applications (CCMA) and the Yunnan Tongchuang Scientific Computing and Data Mining Research Center:

- Algebraic Multigrid Methods, by Jinchao Xu, Penn State University & Peking University
- Wavelet Frames and Applications, by Zuowei Shen, National University of Singapore, and Bin Dong, Peking University
About 40 young scholars, graduate students and senior undergraduate students from 12 universities and research institutes participated in the summer short courses, which was also an exciting opportunity to provide a platform for the academic communication.
