Overview

Computational mathematics serves as the cornerstone of the intersection between mathematics, computing, modeling, engineering, and applied sciences. This two-day workshop aims to create a platform for highlighting the strengths of Penn State University in this field and exploring emerging cross-disciplinary opportunities for mathematics and its applications in areas such as life sciences, material sciences, and data sciences.
We are honored to invite distinguished experts in scientific and engineering computing from around the world, representing both local and global perspectives. They will share their invaluable experiences in multidisciplinary research and education, enriching our understanding of the pivotal role played by computational mathematics in advancing engineering and various scientific disciplines. The program directors from funding organizations will provide unique insights and facilitate discussions on shaping the future of computational mathematics in engineering and the sciences.
In addition to knowledge exchange, this symposium aims to support the growth of the Center for Computational Mathematics and Applications (CCMA). Our vision includes planning future activities, fostering innovative collaborations between these centers, establishing strategic partnerships with existing research institutes, pursuing federal funding opportunities, and organizing future workshops on cutting-edge topics.
